My name is Haley France, and I am a junior majoring in photo & video journalism at UNC-Chapel Hill. I grew up in a beach town in North Carolina, taking pictures of flowers and friends, and I am so thankful for having since been introduced to visual journalism.

As a visual storyteller, I’ve had the opportunity to cover a wide variety of stories and events including the Silent Sam protests, UNC varsity sports and a piece on woodworker Eddie Hamrick. I love the constant opportunity to learn and grow in this profession. It brings its own challenges and ethical debates, but it is these struggles and important conversations that are continuously shaping this profession for the better. This is an exciting field, and I’ve enjoyed every minute of it.
